10 Reasons Why You Should Read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (Review)

Hey everyone!

I wanted to try something different for my review of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. So here comes 10 more or less valid reasons why you should read this classic!

10 Reasons why you should read Alice in Wonderland

  • It’s a classic! If you haven’r read Alice you can’t call yourself a avid reader… Just kidding! I just read it for the first time and I haven’t even seen the movie yet. Shame on me I know… But this is like THE classic to read.
  • It is short! Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a quick and easy read. According to readinglenght.com it will take the average reader just over an hour to read it. That is an easy one to add to your Goodreads goal. 😉
  • It is all nonsense! It is nonsense truly, but it is not meaningless nonsense. “Everything’s got a moral, if only you can find it”  Wonderland is the place for the imagination. It is the place to dream and to escape. Wonderland is for everyone – also you!

“Curiouser and curiouser!”

  • Cute animals are everywhere! Wonderland is filled with cute animals: The white rabbit, March Hare and the Doormouse etc. It is too adorable not to read.
  • Alice is a great main character. One can call Alice a lot of things; stupid, naive, thoughtless. But what I adore about Alice is her honestly and how she values knowledge. She is open for new things, she is constantly learning but she still has a critical approach towards herself, others and society. I believe Alice can be a great inspiration for others, especially girls. You can be cute, silly, have a great imagination and still have brains 😉
  • There are drawings! Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is filled with cute drawings almost on every page. I don’t read that many books with drawings. This was probably the first in many years! It is always good with a change and something new.
  • The Cheshire Cat! The Cheshire cat is definitely my favourite character of all. Who can’t love that! Only sane people I guess. 😉

“We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”

  • It has inspired a lot of other works. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has worked as an inspiration for a lot of other books and movies. You should read Alice in Wonderland to know the original and understand the new works more fully.
  • Interpreted in it your own way. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland can be interpreted in many ways! Some might be more crazy than others. Alice being on drugs is definitely my favourite 😉 But as every other classics it is open for a lot of interpretation and this one is no exception. Read it and interpreted it in the way you see it. No one ever reads the same book.
  • Just read it already! I mean do I really need to come up with more reasons why you should read this book? Just do it! 😉

“I knew who I was this morning but I have changed a few times since then.”

Have you read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland? What did you think of it? Do you have other reasons why one should read it?

  1. I loved this when I read it two years ago, and yes I remember it only took me an hour or so! You may or may not have encouraged me to pick it up again for a reread 🙈💕

  2. Alice in Wonderland is one of the classics I somehow never read nor watched even though I looove weird books. Maybe it’s time?

  3. Oh I quite like this format! What a clever and un-usual way to form a review!
To be frank.. I’ve never read it either – though I did watched a bit of the movie for english class I think? It is sadly WAY too much nonesense for my brain xD I really can get behind the alice on drug “theory” for sure ahah

  4. I recently read this to my daughter and it was such a fun thing to read to her, I’d read it before but it just seemed more enjoyable for me to read it out loud to her, I love the nonsense and the songs and riddles. Hate the caterpillar, he gives me the creeps lol

  5. I haven’t read it, and I actually feel quite bad about it 😛
Guess it’s time to add it to my TBR list, which is way too long

    1. God yes that never ending TBR… But in one hour you will have read the whole thing and be one book down 😉

  6. I’ve only seen the movie versions, but I’ve always liked it and have been wanting to read more children’s classics that I missed out on when I was little because I was too obsessed with Peter Pan to read anything else. XD Maybe someday soon I’ll finally pick this one up. 🙂

    1. Aww Peter Pan! Then you are totally excused 😉 I have seen the newest movie of Alice i Wonderland but I really want to see the old Disney version. I heard that it should be great and true to the book 🙂

  7. I’ve seen movies, animated movies, partly, completely, I’ve read the book and I still can’t understand why is it such a popular story. To me it was a plain waste of time and I wouldn’t suggest it to anybody. I usually find something interesting in even the most boring and strange stories, but not in this one. Nothing. I also think that because I don’t like this story, I don’t like (or I don’t know what’s so special about them) LOTR, Harry Potter, Narnia, GOT. But I don’t consider myself strange 😀
