My Bookish January 2020

The first month of the year is already over! Like how did that happen? I am not ready for February at all. I guess I’ll just have to suck it up. Luckily I believe my January has been quite nice bookish wise. So here comes my bookish round up for this month.

Books read this month

I read three books this January which I am fairly satisfied with. I always want to read more books but the three books I read this month I simply loved! I gave them all four stars or more.

The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black ♥♥♥♥

The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black was my first read in 2020. I have as many other waited in excitement for the third and last book in The Folk of The Air series. And I was not disappointed. I was caught from the beginning and read it in just a few days. I only have one but; it was too short. Everything happened so fast maybe even too fast. I wanted more scenes between Jude and Cardan. More human connection and less action.

Clean by Juno Dawson ♥♥♥♥

I have wanted to read ‘Clean’ by Juno Dawson for a long while! And I finally did it after I had my sister “import” it from New York 😉 Anyway, this was all I had hoped for. It was dark and tough but still had its brights moments. I am still working on my review and hopefully I will finish it soon.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart ♥♥♥♥♥

I read We Were Liars for the first time in 2015. I was affected by it weeks after I had finished it. I have wanted to reread this book for years but I was afraid I wouldn’t love it as much as the first time around. This time I listened to it as an audiobook and I still loved it. It didn’t hit me as hard this time because I was prepared for the plot twist. If you havn’t read this book yet you should seriously consider it!

Currently reading

I am actually currently read two books. I don’t do this often. I am currently reading a Danish book called ‘Til Min Søster’ which is about two sisters and their relationship. The second book I am reading is a YA book ‘The Gilded Wolves’. The latter am I a bit disappointed in. It is too complicated and at the same time a bit boring. Hopefully it will change for the better as I am about half way through.

Things on Bookish Stuff

This month I also published three post on Bookish Stuff. Two of them focusing on the previous year, 2019.
My Bookish 2019 is basically my round-up post for 2019. Read about my favourite reads, post and more.
Bookish Discoveries I Made This Year is a post about the big and small discoveries I made in 2019. Figure out why Libby is the best thing ever and why Kaleena’s @ Reader Voracious spreadsheets are essential as a reader and blogger.
Last but not least I also published my review of And I darken by Kiersten White, probably my favourite read of 2019.

What’s up for February

So what’s up for February? Hopefully I am gonna finish ‘The Gilded Wolves’. I also hope to read ‘Now I Rise’ which is the sequel to ‘And I Darken’ so I have high expectations for this one. I am also currently working on my review on ‘Clean’, so look out for that.

I guess all that is left is to wish you all a great February!

Best,
Nicoline

What books did you read in January? What are you currently reading? What post did you publish?
