My Bookish February

It is officially spring! How great is that. As I am typing this the sun is shining through my window. It feels like I haven’t seen it for months so I am loving it!
My February have consisted of more reading than writing but I actually don’t mind. I also got a lot of new books, definitely not complaining about that! Here is a recap of my bookish February. πŸ–€

Books read this month

I read 5 books this February which I am quite satisfied with. However only one book got five stars from me.

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi πŸ–€πŸ–€

This book took me a while to finish and it never really caught me. In the end I only finished it because I got so far I felt stupid not to finish it and then waste the time I spend on it. I really liked the idea of this book but the reality was different. I hope to write my review of this book so I can explain my rating.

We Should All Be Feminist by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€

I have wanted to read this essay for a long time and I finally did it this month. I found the book at the SMK museum shop for a really great price. I read it the next day and loved it! Adichie arguments are so great and so articulated. Everyone should read this book. Look out for review which I will post soon!

Mount Trilogy 1-3 by Meghan March πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€

This trilogy by Megan March consist of course of three books. I read them all in four days which probably says how much I enjoyed them. The first book ‘Ruthless King’ I found on Amazon for free. When I finished it I had to get the second book right away. I bought the second book ‘Defiant Queen’ and the third book ‘Sinfull Empire’ on Amazon as well.
I always struggle to rate books like these. This trilogy is not a piece of great literature. It is filled with cliches, at times bad writing and unrealistic events. And in that context it would probably get one star. But if one take it for what it is I must say I really enjoyed it. And would probably give it four stars. If you enjoy romance/erotica I would recommend it.

Currently reading

Right now I am reading Wilder Girls by Rory Power. I am fairly enjoying it but I am not ready to die for it, yet. I hope to finish it in the next few days and hopefully get some answers to all my questions. I have so many! I am about 200 pages in and have about 150 left.

Things on Bookish Stuff

This month I posted two post. I must say I had hoped for more but as I was abroad for a week without my mac it makes it hard to be productive. I simply can’t schedule post on my phone.

I posted my Review of Clean by Juno Dawson. I read ‘Clean’ in January and enjoyed it very much.

I also posted about the 5 Books That Gave Me a Book Hangover. Here I discovered that it is mainly contemporary books that give me book hangovers…

Books hauled

So in February I hauled a lot of books. Most of them was a gift from my mother so technically I didn’t spend any money on books this month ;). You see books in Denmark are quite expensive considering prices in the US and UK. So when my mother was traveling to both contries I gave her my wish list. Am I spoiled haha? Probably πŸ˜‰

I got:

‘Tweet Cute’ by Emma Lord, a YA romance I am looking very much forward to. I love the word play on meet cute and the hole twitter thing of course!
‘The Wrath & The Dawn’ and ‘The Rose & The Dagger’ by RenΓ©e Ahdieh a series I haven’t yet read. Ahdieh seems to have written so many exciting books I need to read som from her.
‘The Worlds Wife’ by Carol Ann Duffy, a poetry collection which apparently consist of a “collection of dramatic monologue featuring either the wives of famous mythic and historical heroes or female versions of the heroes themselves”. (1) Bill Herwins’ review on Goodreads. This collections wasn’t on my list but my mum thought it would be something for me and I believe she was quite right πŸ˜‰
‘The Stars We Steal’ by Alexa Donne, a new YA sci-fi retelling of Persuasion. Just released in the beginning of February. The reviews I have read so far seems positive so can’t waite to dive into it πŸ˜‰
‘Beautiful Creatures’ by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl a YA fantasy you probably know. This was also an extra gift from my mother. However I already have this book and truth be told the entire collection. If you are interested in this book I will give it to you for free you just have to pay for the shipping. Let me know if you are interested! πŸ–€

Bullet journal

So I also did my bullet journal for March. I am not completely satisfied with month this layout but here goes:

So this is the first part of my monthly spread. It is basically just a front page/separator. But I also added a column on the right to write one positive thought down a day. I want to be positive and focus a bit on my mental health so I hope this will contribute to that.

This is my monthly spread which I use to keep a track of the entire month. I also use it to keep track of my blogging and reading. I have a block for blog post ideas and a block for the books I want to read, where I later add my ratings.

Last but no least my weekly spread! I usually have a lot to do and this weekly overview is crucial for me. I use it for my private tasks and events as well as things related to my blog.

What’s up for March

I really hope to get a lot of reading and writing done in March as I don’t have much work and I want to use the extra time for things I enjoy. First I plant to finish ‘Wilder Girls’ and then read ‘Tweet Cute’. I have read many positive reviews of this book so I am looking forward to it.

I also hope to finish my review/discussion post on ‘We Should Alle be Feminist’, and write my review of ‘Gilded Wolves’. One of my goals this year is to write more reviews. I want to review approximately half the books I read and I am already behind on that hehe.

I hope your March will be filled with the things you enjoy <3

Best,
Nicoline

  3. When my parents went to America to visit my sister last year, I asked if they could get me some books as well and they were surprisingly very willing. Hope March continues to be good πŸ™‚
