June Round-Up

It is July which means it is time for a look back at what June has brought of bookish stuff. Enjoy!

Books I have read

War Strom by Victoria Aveyard ★★★★

WS cover

This was both a thrilling and at some point a disappointing final to the great Red Queen series. Overall I really liked this book, read my review here!

Emergency Contact by Mary Choi ★★★★

EC cover

This was a read I had looked forward to a lot. Luckily it didn’t disappoint, this was such sweet but serious book which portrayed friendship and mother relationship in such a great way. You can read my review here!

Am I Normal Yet? by Holly Bourne ★★★

AINY cover

When I started reading this book I didn’t have any particular expectations. It turned out I really enjoyed reading this! It had a bit slow start but I believe it just got better and better. I am still a bit in doubt about the number of stars… 😉
Anyway, you can expect my review in the next couple of days which I have tried to make a bit different from the usual way my reviews are.

Ace Of Shades by Amanda Foody ★★★★★

AOS cover

Wow! This was such a great and different YA fantasy read! I loved the world and the main characters! It was scary, mysterious and thrilling. I can’t wait for the next book… I want it now, please!

Other things on Bookish Stuff

In June I reach 50 followers on my blog and my current tally is 72!! 😀 Thank you so much for all the love! I really appreciate it! <3

Additionally, this month I was so lucky to be featured in Avelians new #NewBloggersWelcome feature Edition #2. This was the second feature where Evelina introduces new bloggers to the book blogging community. Can’t express how happy and thankful I am for this opportunity. Thank you, Evelina! Also thanks to all who stopped by my blog and twitter, you are really great <3

In June I also posted my Summer TBR / Reading challenge. Check out which ten books I hope to read this summer.

Slightly opposite from my summer tbr I also posted about the current status of My DNF Pile. Favourably there are not that many books in it yet, but as the more I read, I guess the pile will increase with time…insta mby

In June I also created an Instagram account for my blog. I haven’t decided if I am ready to join into the whole bookstagram thing but now I have an account so I can follow you guys! So please leave your insta name in the comments!

Great post from around the book blogging community

Chloe @ Bookdragons has written a lovely review/discussion post on the book The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed. Chole has some very righteous feministic points. Read it here.

@ New Writing North I read this great interview with Laura Steven author of The Exact Opposite Of Okay. Really interesting to hear Steven thought about TEOOO. Check it out here.

On the more personal front

I have been a bit absent from the book blogging community the last weeks time. This absent is due to another great passion of mind – rhythmic gymnastics. I do rhythmic gymnastics and I train about 20 hours a week. This week have been a bit more stressed and tight than usual due to a bit crazy experiment of mine. I am preparing for a big competition in two days time and I decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to make my own leotards. Usually, I get these custom-made by a designer but I thought it could be a fun challenge to make one myself since I am finished with school. Anyway, this leotard-making has taken up a great deal of my time. I am finally finished with them and look forward to engaging more in the book blogging community this month :))

What’s up for July?

So whats up for July? I plan on reading Far From The Madding Crowd and P.S I still Love You, Laura Jean and probably one or two other books.
In July you can also expect my review of Am I normal Yet? and Ace of Shades and my first book tag! Can’t wait!

  1. Ah thanks for sharing my review! So glad you liked it and Am I Normal Yet? by Holly Bourne I loved, it’s a good series that is 🙂

  2. Im so excited for you! I’m beyond glad that you enjoyed reading Emergency Contact, too. I’m also glad that you enjoyed reading Ace of Shades! Haha. I have yet to read the book but it’s on my shelf waiting for me, so, I guess I should probably read it. Sometime. …In the near future. haha! Good luck in the competition!

    1. Aww thank you! <3 Ace of Shades was really a posotive surprise for me. I hadn't thought I would like it that much. I believe you will like it too 🙂

  3. OMG it’s so FREAKING cool that you do rhythmic gymnastics And that you’re making your own leotard! 😍😱I used to dance ballet and those leotards were pretty plain, so I can only imagine the work that goes into making one for gymnastics! Best of luck on your competition <3 I can't wait to read more of your posts when you're back into the blogging groove after it. I'm also so happy that you enjoyed Emergency Contact! It was one of my favorite reads this year so far, so I'm happy it didn't disappoint.

    Lovely post <3

    1. Thank you for your sweet comment! <3
Yeah, it was quite a challenge making them and all the stones I had to put on… But I still had fun and if I should say it myself they looked quite good on the floor 😉

  4. Sounds like a busy month! I am new to the book blogging community, though not to blogging or to book reviewing 😀 but it seems like such a nice and supportive group! Looking forward to reading more on your blog!

    1. Welcome! I am also relatively new to the book blogging community and actually, everything related to that, except for reading 😉 But everyone is just so nice and welcoming! Thanks!

  5. Emergency Contact is one of my books to read this summer. Glad you loved it! I hope you did well in your gymnastics competition. I’m so impressed you can make your own leotards.

    1. Yes, I did, you have something to look forward to!
It went well thank you. Thank you again it was also a bit of a challenge I must say but in the end, I am quite satisfied with the result :))
