Bogforum 2018 // Signing with Louise O’Neill

Friday the 26 of October I was at Bogforum 2018! Bogforum is the largest book convention in Denmark. BogForum is held in Copenhagen and from Friday to Sunday Bella Center, a large conference centre is filled with books. There you can find publishers from all over Denmark selling books and talking about books. The event is a great opportunity to meet authors and hear more about their works and of course buy books with a discount. Danish books tend to be rather pricey so I always plan to buy my danish books here to save some money.

The book convention is always up for an entire weekend, however, I was only able to participate Friday. Nonetheless, I had a great time and, I met Louise O’Neill!!!! At one of the stands, Louise O’Neill talked about two of her books; Only Ever Yours and Asking For It. Afterwards, you could get your books signs :)) I have read Asking For It and it has really grown on me. I have read a couple of interesting articles and reviews of it, as well as listened to podcasts where it was featured. I have realised that this is really a great book and a very important one as well! It is the only book I have read by O’Neill and after the talk, I am keener than ever to read Only Ever Yours (which my sister just got me as a present from her trip to NYC. Thanks sis! :))) ). In general, I am at the moment quite into books about feminism and books that criticize todays society and social norms. If you have read any great books you would recommend please leave a recommendation in the comments. I would really appreciate it!

Louise O’Neill and me. (My hair is tied in a knot – my hair is actually quite long but not visible on the picture ahha!)

So apart from book signings and book talks I also did a bit of book browsing and book shopping. I only bought three books and got one for free. The one that I got for free is actually a sample of thirteen(!) YA books (how cool is that?!) among Leah On The Off Beat, One Of Us Is Lying, Hazel Wood and All Of This Is True. The other books that I got was:

Die Welt von Gestern by Stefan Zweig

This is a memorial book by the German author Stefan Zweig. Sweig talks about his life from his birth in 1881 and youth in Austria to the first world war and interwar and lastly the beginning of the second world war. I believe this book will be a very informative read. I want to read this book because I believe there are some similarities between what happened then and what happens now political wise. Which I think is horrifying. But I also want to read this book because of Zeig how felt like a European and I would like to know more about the European feeling/spirit.

Den Der Lever Stille by Leonora Christina Skov

‘Den Der lever Stille’ is written by the Danish author Leonora Skov and is an autobiography about her life. Directly translated the title means ‘The One Who Lives Quite’. I am quite excited to find out what I think of this book. it was very well recieved in Denmark.

Flytte Hjemmefra Kogebogen by Louise Lorang

This book is a cookbook for people moving away from home. It is supposed to be recipes of quick, great food that doesn’t require too much dishwashing. (I still live with my parrents but I think it is good to prepare 😉 )

All in all, I am quite satisfied with years Bogforum and I can’t wait for next year where I really hope to participate all three days.
A big thanks to Gitte @ Thebookswormscloset for taking my picture with Louise O’Neill

Do you participate in book conventions and do you like it?

  1. This looks like so much fun! I recently went to one of Jodi Picoult’s book events in the UK and loved it. Now I want to attend more events like it!

  2. Bogforum looks super fun and I’m glad you got to go! Being from Missouri, no publishing conventions with all of my favorite authors are available, unfortunately, so all I can see are BookCon photos and tweets when it happens, haha.

    1. Haha, Twitter is great but too bad really. Have you ever thought of going abroad for a book convention? I have 😉
